Kid Talk

Most of you know that a few weeks ago one of our previous pastors' parents were in a very seriuos car accident. Pastor Jason's dad is ok for the most part, but Jason's mom is still in a coma with very seriuos injuries.

This past Sunday I was talking to some of our preschoolers and Cole Earlewine asked about Pastor Jason's mommy. As I tried to find the words to explain to them this horrible event, all I found myself able to say was, "Jason's mommy is sleeping and we don't know when she is going to wake up". Ashton Bradley replied with, "you mean like sleeping beauty?" I thought...wow, I guess that is a good way to explain it...then one of the other kids looked at me in ALL seriousness and said, "well why doesn't his dad just kiss her already?"

It was in that moment that I realized that their faith makes a tragedy like this seem so easy to fix. I told them that even though it's kind of like sleeping beauty, Jason's daddy can't fix it, none of us can. God is the only one who can wake up Jason's mommy and He will do it when He is ready for her to wake up. I told them all we can do is pray.

How amazing is it that 3, 4, and 5 year old kids understood that whole conversation.
